### What issue do you have?

I’m using an old version of Joplin — 3.6.15 (prod, Linux) — and it doesn’t sync. I tried to update it, but the installation doesn’t happen, nothing happens. I had to roll back the system to get the old version back.

Is this with the Joplin AppImage and installation script (see [joplinapp.org/help/install](https://joplinapp.org/help/install/))? If not, how was Joplin installed?

Related notes:

- Some users with AppImage Launcher (\< v3) installed have observed issues with launching Joplin v3.7. [See this GitHub thread](https://github.com/laurent22/joplin/issues/16558#issuecomment-5671551120) for details.
- [Joplin v3.6.16](https://github.com/laurent22/joplin/releases#release-v3.6.16) can also sync with Joplin v3.7. A temporary workaround might be to upgrade to Joplin v3.6.16, rather than Joplin 3.7.

Yes, it’s exactly the installation using the script. I also tried just downloading the package and installing it, but that didn’t work either. But thank you — version 3.6.16 solved the synchronization issue.

Could you let us know what the terminal output is if you run `chmod +x ./ Joplin-3.7.18.AppImage ` && `./Joplin-3.7.18.AppImage` ? (with the paths being adjusted appropriately)

Separately could you let us know the output of `tail -v /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/*`

Cheers,

Looks like AppImage Launcher is installed on your system so you'd experience this problem with all modern AppImages; one of the underlying changes in the new runtime was swapping from zlib compression to zstd so that the bundle is both smaller and extracts faster. It shouldn't be ZSTD itself causing a problem however because the AppImage both bundles ZSTD at a userspace level, and Mint would have it already at the kernel level.

You could either

1.

```auto
sudo apt remove AppImageLauncher --purge
```

Followed by a reboot, which would allow 3.7.18 and other modern AppImages to work at the expense of losing the AppImage Launcher functionality, or

1.

Download version 3 here [Release Release v3.0.0-beta-3 · TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher · GitHub](https://github.com/TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher/releases/tag/v3.0.0-beta-3) and install it with `sudo apt install ./appimagelauncher_3.0.0-beta-2-gha287.96cb937_amd64.deb` which would correct Joplin and other apps using the newer AppImage runtimes.

From what I've seen there isn't any files produced for Ubuntu 26.04 bases so it might be worth considering that the next Linux Mint release might not be supported by it. I've seen people recommending Gear Lever (itself installed via Flatpak) as an option for similar functionality, so that might be worth investigating long term as while it's a bit more manual, it doesn't integrate at such a low level to be able to cause these kinds of problems.

> Скачать версию 3 можно здесь [Release Release v3.0.0-beta-3 · TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher · GitHub](https://github.com/TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher/releases/tag/v3.0.0-beta-3) и установить с помощью `sudo apt install ./appimagelauncher_3.0.0-beta-2-gha287.96cb937_amd64.deb`Это позволило бы исправить ошибки в Joplin и других приложениях, использующих более новые среды выполнения AppImage.

Thank you, this option worked. I’m happy again :))
