# Using Joplin with Nextcloud behind Tor Hidden Service

I'm enjoying using Joblin 2.9.17 and it seems to have added proxy support recently but it doesn't seem to support socks proxies for Tor hidden service and I wasn't able to notice a GUI for setting up a proxy.

I've installed Nextcloud behind tor and it seems to be working fine but without socks proxy support in Joplin I can't configure it to connect to my Nextcloud local server.

It's very convenient to connect Joplin to a local server behind Tor without having to get a static IP, configure port forwarding or store my data on a 3rd party server.

> The desktop-app does not support proxy or it fails to use system-wide proxy settings. When the synchronise-button is pressed, nothing seem to happen. There is no visible error message. The error, ECONNREFUSED, is however logged properly into the log file.
