What issue do you have?
Description:
Since updating to Joplin 3.7+, synchronization with HiDrive (via WebDAV) has stopped working completely. Prior to this version, sync worked flawlessly for months/years without any issues.
What happens:
Every sync attempt fails within ~20 seconds with the following error:
Error: GET info.json: Unknown error 2 (429):
429 Too Many RequestsToo Many Requests
The user has sent too many requests in a given amount of time.
This occurs on every single sync attempt – not intermittently, but consistently. It is not a temporary rate limit that expires after waiting.
What I have already tried:
Waiting several hours/days and retrying – same error every time
Reducing concurrent connections (Advanced Settings → max. concurrent connections to 1) – no change
Clearing local sync state – no change
Fresh installation on a new device – same error immediately on first sync attempt
Verified WebDAV credentials and URL are correct (unchanged from working version)
No unusual number of notes or large attachments – sync volume is normal
Environment:
Joplin version: 3.7.4 and 9
Sync target: HiDrive (Strato) via WebDAV
OS: Windows 11
Other devices affected: Yes – all devices, including fresh installations
Observation:
This appears to be a regression introduced in version 3.7, as sync worked perfectly before the update and broke immediately afterward. The 429 error is triggered on the very first request (GET info.json), which suggests that the new WebDAV implementation may be sending requests in a way that triggers HiDrive's rate limiter differently than before.
I have attached a screenshot showing the error message from the sync dialog.
Could you please investigate this? It is currently impossible to sync any notes across devices.
