# Toggle editor layout - margins

Joplin for Desktop 2.9.17 (prod, darwin) on a MacBook pro running Ventura. I am brand new to Joplin.

I'm hoping the attached screenshot will make my problem clear. When both editors are showing, the markdown panel is way bigger than it needs to be, while the rtf is sandwiched in. If I hide the markdown panel, the rtf panel text is still ultra narrow. How do I set things up so that I can specify the width of the panels? I apologize if I've missed something obvious.

Is this not the result of whatever theme you have installed or CSS alterations you have made?

You are absolutely right. After reading further I realized it had to do with the way the Mac theme has to be handled. Thank you.
