The new table editor in 3.7 is very nice, but there are a handful of features either missing or possibly not working. I use the Windows app, so I don't know if all these apply to every version.
Cannot have a cell with multiple lines: there doesn't seem to be a way to add a carriage return within a cell's text. I've tried shift-enter, alt-enter etc
Cannot change text alignment within cells in the way that can be done with the raw markdown editor
Column widths cannot be changed
Some markdown elements can't exist within cells: I'd really like to be able to add checkboxes in particular
Not a complaint at all, just hope that some of these might be implemented one day.

That's unfortunate because I used this as well a lot.

Same here.

Dito.
Column widths cannot be changed
Was this even possible before?
Features that I'm missing: I have a lot of information organized in tables and every now and then I move a whole row from one table to another. Neither cut&paste nor (as a workaround) copy&paste are yet available for the new tables.
For the while being, I have disabled the Interactive table editing in the Editor options. The new tables feature is an appreciated attempt but as long as only basic functionality has been implemented, it is limiting me more than being useful. I'll re-check with future updates.
There are a few plugins that provide a table editor with these features (support for multiple lines when editing cells, column alignment, cut/copy/paste table cells):
I agree those features would make a lot of sense to support in the new native table editor.
Regarding checkboxes and custom column widths, that might not be very feasible with markdown based tables (there's no markdown syntax for defining column widths though I suppose inline HTML could be used, and commonmark/GFM specifications don't support task lists or lists in general in table cells)
