Currently, checking "Enable markdown emoji" under Markdown settings enables emoji in two ways:

  • Converting plain text emoji names surrounded by colons into Unicode emoji: :joy: → :joy:
  • Converting common emoticons into Unicode emoji: :) → :slight_smile:

As someone who wants the former behavior enabled and the latter disabled, I would appreciate if the emoji setting were split up to control these behaviors separately.
