# Search functionality in Joplin

I also use Goto Anything as described above. Unfortunately, users must first find the menu item (`Go` \> `Goto Anything...`) or keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+P by default, at this time) to use this feature. Separately, the Command Palette has no menu item (but can be accessed by tapping : in Goto Anything).

Goto Anything's `Help` button is a nice touch that's missing from the searchbar. Adding info from or a link to [online Search docs](https://joplinapp.org/help/apps/search) could help reduce support requests. Adding basic search support and a toggle to search the currently opened notebook would be nice. Adding preview functionality like the [Note List Preview plugin](https://joplinapp.org/plugins/plugin/io.github.jackgruber.notelistpreview/) seems like a longshot but also came to mind.

The searchbar works well for persisting all notes matching the search query in the note list while you edit one of them.
