This idea of smart notebooks has been proposed before I think and would indeed be nice to have. It would cover many use cases with just one feature. In the meantime of course you can approximate this with tags but it’s not as powerful.

+1 whatever the name : smart notebook, dynamic tag, virtual folder or saved searches. Something like this on the left panel would be so perfect!

Agree this would be super useful. There is another ofter requested feature – show all TODOs in one place, it can be implemented nicely using this feature.

And in fact you can even think of tags and folders as these saved searches (or whatever you name them).
