Plugin: Rubi and Furigana

Hello everyone,

I have been looking for a note taking app that support furigana for a while now but no luck. Finally found Joplin that can do it (kinda).

漢字かんじ
かん
exampleɪɡˈzæmpl̩

So I published a plugin that helps quickly turning formatted text into corresponding html tags to display furigana or "ruby" character.

It is very simple but I think many will find it be useful for them so I share it here.

I didn't even know that was possible. Thanks for sharing!

Not sure if many people are using this plugin but I have just added a new logic to v1.1.0 for when you have to write sentences with many furigana like this 今日きょう漢字かんじ書き取かきとりがある

{今日(きょう)}は{漢字(かんじ)}の{書き取(かきと)}りがある
→ <ruby>今日<rt>きょう</rt></ruby>は<ruby>漢字<rt>かんじ</rt></ruby>の<ruby>書き取<rt>かきと</rt></ruby>りがある

It is just simple search and replace logic but it helps us to focus on writing and don't have to manually select each term.

Fortunately I don't need this often, but I've never ever even seen an editor that would let me do this, not to mention this easily. Hats off to you.

Incredible idea which may help language learners (or Hanzi/Kanji/Hanja lovers? 이름 or so) a lot. I tried typing these ruby tags by hand but it's so disgusting. Only if I could know it sometimes earlier...

Just a dream: I wish this may become something like what is in Microsoft Word, with some ability to suggest possible pronunciations...

Update: ...or one can opt in generating something like:
<ruby>過去形<rp>(</rp><rt>かこけい</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby> (Displayed as 過去形かこけい in modern browser and 過去形(かこけい) in traditional browsers)
Since it is only helpful when you export it as a html, I would like to describe it as a dream, too.

duuuuuuuude thank you for this, I'm learning uchinaaguchi (native language of okinawa - where I live) and I've been using joplin for all my language notes, all hiragana so far which has been bugging me, i really wanted to et kanji and ruby somehow, you've done it, thank you!!!
