# Notebook Indexing

I am making a request for a feature/ asking permission to change the code based on this issues:

Basically Joplin currently does not recognise prefixing numbers as seperate numbers and takes them as a string. This causes the issue as mentioned above.

Should we try and create a sort of indexing feature wherein every time you create a notebook, you can add your desired index in the notebook in order to re-order the notebooks.

Is there an existing work-around around this?

I found this thread from 2 years back which requests something similar:
