What issue do you have?

I have a Dell Monitor S2721QS
I don't what exactly Joplin does, as soon as I do CTRL + P to open the search dialog, my monitor goes black (dark) for few seconds and then comes back for a second and then back again in a constant loop until I close the search window.

I'm not sure this is a problem with my monitor or something Joplin is causing.

The thing is no other app does this.
Wonder if anyone has experience anything like this, quite a puzzle.
It makes it impossible to do a search.

I'd even be happy with a workaround.

Try toggling the safe mode to see if this is a plugin problem.

On Navigation Bar: Help → Toggle Safe Mode

This is a longshot, but do you have an nvidia GPU with windowed mode gsync enabled? (enabling gsync for windowed can cause weird issues like flickering in some apps)

Same issue in safe mode.
So that eliminates a plugin being the culprit.
That was a good test.

Yep, Nvidia GPU, but GSync is disabled

What happens if you open the search via the corresponding menu option instead of a shortcut? If that works ok, you could see if the keyboard shortcut for the search in Joplin can be changed and see if that helps.

Also, were you previously on Joplin 3.5.4 and if so was there an issue then? In 3.5.5 there was an Electron upgrade

It happens only when Joplin opens up a popup / window, with built in search, there is no issue.
I can easily recreate the issue with CTRL + P or when adding Tags, both of which open another window.

This has always been an issue with any version of Joplin, it’s not new or specific to a version.

I was hopeful with what @bwat47 suggested, but sadly that was not the case.

Very odd. Maybe try updating your gpu drivers?

Thanks,
I update regulary and am currently on the latest.

Very odd indeed.

Maybe try this:

Similar issue with that monitor mentioned here:

I made this change, and it’s no longer happening, at least for the limited tests I did.
Going dark used to happen within a second of opening the window, now I waited over a minute and it didn’t happen, I hop it works for you as well and continues to work.
