# Messages about the master key

### What issue do you have?

Hi,  
I don't understand the various warning messages in my Joplin app since I reinstalled my Mint Linux; It sounds contradictory and typing in a master password doesn't work: field stays red as in attached picture).

Try pressing the "Manage master password..." button. If I remember correctly, after a complete re-install pressing this button will allow you to enter your master key in a dialog box that appears. That then activates the encryption key(s).
