I think this issue started after updating to a version of the Linux Desktop AppImage version 2.12. One day all was good and the next day after opening the app I could not see the text – notebook names or note text etc, below the menu bar.
After trying different things, the only way I found that fixed this was:
- Close the Linux desktop application
- Navigate to (on my openSUSE machine) the home/(user name)/.config/Joplin directory
- Open the GPUCache directory, or folder if you prefer, and delete all the files in there
- Restart the Joplin desktop app and everything should be visible again
