# Linking to a note inside Joplin

### What issue do you have?
How do I link to a note from outside the Joplin app?
I generated a link via "Copy external link" which gives a URL that looks like
joplin://x-callback-url/openNote?id=f02cc04176cd4aef9b06571b193c70cd
But I'm not sure what to do with it. When pasted into a browser address bar, it just performs a search that returns this URL as the first hit!

When i paste that link type in a browser, it requests permission to open that link in Joplin.

Strange, I was expecting that to happen. But it didn't for me.
Perhaps I'll experiment with different browsers.
