Is there a way to link to a new note that doesn't exist yet to act as a placeholder to branch off ideas?
To have to stop, manually create a new note, give it a header, go back to the origonal note, then link it, is very disrupting to the train of thought.

Hello fizzle6325 and welcome to the forum.
I think we all have our own solution for that. Some among others...
First: Create a notebook and a note in order to receive your ideas.
Solution A
Install the homenote plugin
and define the previous note like home page...
Solution B
Install the Favorites plugin
Create a shortcut for this notebook in the Favorites panel.
Thank you, I will give this a try for now.
The quick links plugin can create a new note with the given title. It will always be created in the same notebook you're currently in and then you can go back and move it where it needs to go after finishing the original note.

Thanks for this information...
Configuration needed:
Enter "@@" and the tittle of a new note...
It' only for the MDE (MarkDown Editor) it seems...
The following command is able to link to an existing note but not to a new one that you create in the move. But it works in the RTE...
