### What issue do you have?

Hello everyone,

I use rich text editor and markdown both. I like the app a lot.

However, there is one thing that aggravates me to no end and makes me consider switching to upnote. The following occurs regularly:

I open my note and start reading, scrolling down. Then I see something that I want to change about the text and click 'edit'. The screen takes me all the way up to the start of the note and I have to scroll all the way back to where I was reading.

Is this a bug? Is this something that can be fixed? It would have huge impact on quality of use if so.

Anyone know?

Thanks a lot

Yes, it’s annoying. I’m guessing keeping the cursor position between view and edit mode is not present because it is difficult to implement reliably. I recall when the Evernote Android app used to have a view / edit toggle, the developers attempted to keep them in sync, but it often did not work properly and would move to random positions.

To get around this when dealing with long notes, I look at a short phrase at the current scroll position, and after switching to edit mode I search this phrase in order to scroll to the same position.

Desktop has similar issues (each view seems to remember scroll position separately)

on desktop I get around it by just not using the reading mode (rendered markup setting + rich markdown plugin to display html images + my copy as html/paste as markdown/image resize plugins so I don't need reading mode or rich text editor for copy/paste or resizing images)

on android it would be nice if there was a way to just disable the reading mode (especially when using the rich text editor, where reading mode doesn't serve a purpose beyond preventing accidental edits)
