Is there an option to sync via Web App using Onedrive?

Like many here I used Evernote, and I loved it. I could get my notes pretty much anywhere. Phone, tablet, computer - and failing that just log in to the website. I upgraded to the best version available. It was pretty cheap.

Over the years it became expensive to the point of being just not worth it. I stuck with cheaper versions simply because I didn’t have a way to import my exported Evernote notes into anything else.

Then I found Joplin. I could absolutely import my Evernote notes. It operated pretty much like a frill free version of Evernote. I could sync on any of my devices. But not if I left those devices at home. Now I don’t often do that, but sometimes I do. OK you are entitled to charge for hosting a cloud based web version. But do remember that I can sync Microsoft One Note, and I can sync Apple Notes. Neither of those apps does everything I want but I already pay for Microsoft, Apple (and Google for that matter) to host cloud services. Why would I want to pay for yet another cloud service ?

I truly love what you’ve done here with Joplin, but I loved Evernote too and they just kept on banging the prices up until I couldn’t afford it.

As a reminder, it is trivial to self host the web app. We give that app away for free and made it open source, but deploying it and maintaining it for free for you is where we draw the line

I’d just like to sync via one drive. Which was until recently an option. Just not in time for me.

Is there any reason why you cannot simply install Joplin on the devices locally and sync using OneDrive that way? The web app is a bit specialised, e.g. it can be useful if you need to access Joplin temporarily on different computers, but it's not really reasonable to expect the service to be hosted for free on the Joplin Cloud website while also allowing to sync with 3rd party providers at the same time.

@stephen.smith If you really must use the web app, see my answer here Joplin web app cannot sync with joplin server anymore? - #4 by mrjo118 for an easy (and free) way to host the web app yourself. You'll need to do upgrades manually, but when you want to upgrade, you only need to press a couple of buttons and the rest is automated.

Also going to mention this because if you never used the web app before other sync providers were dropped, you might not realised this. Joplin has an offline first architecture unlike Evernote / OneNote / Apple Notes. So even if you do setup sync successfully on the web app, you're not going to have instant access to your notes. On a new device, you're going to need to do a full sync of all your notes just like with the mobile or desktop app, so if you were expecting instant access to your notes on a guest device, Joplin does not support this feature full stop.
