How to add a new client [Nextcloud/WebDAV]

What issue do you have?

I have a Joplin that syncs to Nextcloud. The url for synching is https://cloud.local/remote.php/webdav/Notes/Joplin. Works fine.
Now I add a new (Android) client. I specify the exact same url for synchronisation.
Sync fails due to fail safe (refuses to remove all existing notes). Technically understandable, but impractical.
How can I instruct the new client to perform some kind of 'initial pull' from the server?
