Get * to display Instead of Code for Italic

Win 10 Joplin 2.12.15 (prod win 32)

I am recording a code for a digital phone:

21123456#

The display should be star21star123456#

Is there a way to get the * to display instead of treating it as a code for italic?

In fact just come up with this idea

*21*123456#

In Joplin I used code tags using <> here I used square brackets.

Is there another way?

Either escape it with a blackslash:

\*21\*123456# becomes *21*123456#

or put it in an inline code block with backticks:

`*21*123456#`

Thank you, I tried escape but had slash going the wrong way.

Backslash is best solution for me.
