Tags are a useful way of grouping together notes which are organised across multiple notebooks. However users may have many tags, and as different contexts may become more relevant at different times, there isn’t a practical way to change priority / ordering if tags.
Particularly on the mobile app, there is no method or plugin available which provides a means to have favourite or pinned notes without having some kind of caveat. Using a tag to act as a smart filter for favourite notes is a bit cumbersome, as it requires 3 taps from the initial note list screen to open the tag. Adding the ability to pin 1 or more tags to the top of the note list would be a simple way to implement a dedicated favourite notes feature which is compatible on mobile, with the flexibility to have multiple categories of favourites, as well as being able to easily swap out the group of favourite notes, depending on what is relevant at the time.
Additionally, when opening tags, unlike with notebooks, the last selected tag is not stored as the last opened location when the app is next started. Where a tag is pinned and opened via the pinned item, it should also be remembered as the last opened location so it acts as a kind of smart filter / virtual folder, therefore increasing the practicality and usefulness of this feature.
Or even better, instead of pinning tags, adding the ability to pin a smart filter to the note list can be done instead. This would essentially allow pinning a user defined search term which may be configured to filter on a specific tag, but offers even greater flexibility for quick access to a subset of notes.
