# Error: “One or more master keys need a password”

Hi,

Does the "One or more master keys need a password" banner show up on all devices? If not,

- Do any of the Joplin apps have the "beta encryption" option enabled? If so, it's possible that the older Joplin clients (v3.0.13) can't decrypt the master keys. - If the device without the warning banner is a desktop version of Joplin, it may be possible to get the master password from Joplin (then compare it with the version in the password manager). To do this:
  1. Go to settings \> encryption.
  2. Click "Manage master password".
  3. Click "Change master password".
  4. Show, then inspect the "Current password".
  5. Click "Cancel".
