# Edit Xournal++ files within Joplin

Dear Joplin Development Team,
I am writing to propose the integration of **Xournal++** file support within **Joplin**. This topic has already been addressed two or three times, but somehow the core idea got lost in the crowd. [Feature request: Inline Xournal++ files (.xopp files)](https://discourse.joplinapp.org/t/feature-request-inline-xournal-files-xopp-files/15164)
Supporting **.xopp** files would enhance Joplin's functionality for students who rely on handwritten notes.
### Key Points:
- **Handwritten Notes** : Many students use Xournal++ for its handwriting capabilities. Integration would streamline their note-taking experience in Joplin.
- **Competitive Edge** : This feature would position Joplin and of course Xournal++ as well, as a strong alternative to OneNote, attracting a wider user base.
- **User Demand** : There is a visible demand for better integration of handwritten note-taking tools within Joplin. Combining those tools together, makes it the perfect UI for students.
### Request Details:
- **Feature** : Open and edit Xournal++ files within Joplin.
- **User Interface** : Ensure a seamless transition between typed and handwritten notes.
- **Export Options** : Allow users to export notes in various formats.

That's a great idea, and I would welcome it if it could be implemented.
My perception is also that handwritten notes are increasingly in demand, and better integration into Joplin would improve its position.
