What issue do you have?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to understand whether this is a bug, a synchronization issue, or something I'm overlooking.

Environment

  • Joplin Desktop 3.6.15
  • Windows 11
  • Sync target: Dropbox
  • Sync Version: 3
  • Profile Version: 49

What I did

  1. Created a completely new Joplin profile.
  2. Connected it to a completely new Dropbox sync repository.
  3. Imported a small JEX notebook (829 notes).
  4. Synchronization completed successfully.
  5. Tags synchronized correctly to a second computer.
  6. Imported a second JEX notebook (7632 notes).

Current data

  • Notes: 8461
  • Resources: 17199
  • Tags: 310
  • NoteTags: 3928

Synchronization Status shows:

Notes: 8461/8461
Folders: 2/2
Resources: 7175/17199
Tags: 0/310
NoteTags: 0/3928

The synchronization finishes and reports "Completed", but those numbers never change.

Additional information

  • Local database contains all 310 tags.
  • Local database contains all 3928 note_tags.
  • Attachments open correctly.
  • Dropbox repository structure looks normal.
  • I created a completely new Dropbox repository for this test.
  • I also recreated a new Joplin profile from scratch.

Logs

The log shows createRemote operations for Tag and NoteTag.

Occasionally I also receive:

TLSV1_ALERT_PROTOCOL_VERSION

during Dropbox upload, although the error is intermittent. Even when synchronization completes without that TLS error, Tags and NoteTags remain at:

Tags: 0/310
NoteTags: 0/3928

Question

Has anyone seen this before?

Could the intermittent Dropbox TLS error prevent Tags and NoteTags from ever reaching the synchronized state?

I'm happy to provide:

  • log.txt
  • JEX files
  • SQLite database
  • additional tests if needed.

Thanks!
