# Desktop pre-release v3.4 is now available (Updated 10/09/2025)

I also came here to say I absolutely detest the Extra Markdown editor that only looks like an editor in the paragraph where your cursor happens to be, otherwise it looks like the view panel. With the content jumping around all the time. Thank dog it can be switched off!

Thanks for the hard work, of course, but still… note that if most users complain, that is literally the opposite of “user friendly” 😉

Please keep in mind that those who are happy will obviously not complain 😉.

For the record, I've seen quite a few requests on the forum asking to include this kind of functionality.

You are exactly right.

I’m new to Joplin but I really like this feature, maybe it should have been more explained in the app itself for old users but as long as there is a setting to disable it I feel it’s fine for everyone

What we are doing is meant to be a net improvement: useful features (hopefully) are added and nothing is removed, but we should probably make that a bit clearer and have a smoother transition, so that's why I'm proposing the above roadmap.
