Code block without syntax highlighting

Is it possible to turn off the syntax highlighting completely? I would like to use code blocks simply because I need fixed spacing (eg: Courier or similar) to line up some numbers and tables are really ugly for this particular example.

I know I can use tabs or spaces as a prefix but I'd prefer code blocks since they stand out as a block. With zero syntax highlighting they would work well for my purpose.
