# Can I start Joplin afresh

I have gone a couple of years without using Joplin.  
I have also long forgotten my password.  
Can I start afresh with Joplin?  
I've tried but it brings up my old encrypted stuff and as I said I don't remember.  
This time (if I can start afresh) I will keep track of my password.

You could simply delete the notes and notebooks you don't want. You can also disable the old master key in the encryption settings.

Yes, I did delete the notebooks and notes, but was unable to delete to old master keys in the encryption settings. There did not seem to be any way to do that. Was I missing something?
