I brought up this issue for the first time. So, what, @Wimvan , this isn't an "edge-case," is it? It means that even the "problems" considered not used by the majority can still be seen as an issue and resolved, right?

Although I brought up this issue, I don't care about not receiving any thanks, information, or apologies for the lack of reactions. I opened that topic for Joplin because it's an application I use and appreciate. If my contribution helps fix an issue in Joplin, that's enough for me!

Search Box when adding a web page using Web Clipper and the mobile app Features

Hello, Thanks for the great application. I would like to add a web page I like from the computer using "Web Clipper" or from Android using the "Share" button directly to one of my notebooks in the Joplin application. The only issue is that I have dozens of notebooks, and each time I want to add a web page, I need to find the appropriate notebook for that webpage. Therefore, it would be a great convenience if we could simply type the name of the notebook in the search box when adding a web page…

Hello, I am just starting to evaluate Joplin as a move from Evernote. I am running Pre-Release 2.14 on Desktop and Android.
The documentation got a bit ahead on the main site saying that OCR was available, which has been the feature I needed to finally get off Evernote.
As the docs state, OCR wont happen on Android, which is fine. But, the resulting Indexed data should be available to search. So far I can place a picture in the Desktop app, and it ran the OCR and I can search for text that only appears in the picture. But, even after a sync and side load of 2.14.8 on my Pixel 6/Android 14, searching for that text does not return anything.
Any idea when the search will become available?

There have been some bug fixes regarding OCR and search (on both mobile and desktop) so please make sure you're using the latest version. And for any support request, please state the version as we can't help without this.

A quick try on my phone shows that OCR data is used as expected in search, so we'll need more details if it doesn't work for you, such as logs or maybe the type of search query you tried.

I am using Android version joplin-2.14.8.apk downloaded and pushed into my Pixel 6 via adb this morning.

Desktop App is 2.14.16 (prod, win32) also installed this morning.

I created two test notes. One in the Desktop app with a screen shot of a Putty window. And one in the mobile App, taking a picture of an envelope.

I am syncing both to my Webdav server.

For the Desktop, searching for a unique string only in the screenshot returned the pointer to the note immediately.
Once the mobile app synced and the Desktop app synced, I was also able to search for a unique string on the envelope picture and get the result back.

Trying both searches on the mobile app does not return a result. Searching for regular text in the notes does return the notes. So the mobile is able to do some searching.

The only areas I have changed in the mobile configuration are to enable sync, change the time/date format to US English standards, and clicking the Seach Index fix button in Tools.

I also see that 2.14.9 has been recently uploaded. Should I try that one or hold off?

I'm not seeing any changes related to search between android-v2.14.7 and android-v2.14.8 (there are a large number of files changed -- I might have missed something).

Is it possible that the OCR data hadn't yet synced to the Android device?

I removed 2.14.8, then installed 2.14.7 and had to reconfigure all settings. As soon as the sync completed the search worked.
